WHY CDEC?

SystemSpecs started operations in 1992 to deliver cutting-edge solutions to businesses and Governments in Nigeria and Africa. As a successful, fully indigenous tech-solutions provider, SystemSpecs is committed to contributing to every effort aimed at closing the technology skill gap in Nigeria, to unlock exponential developments in our dear country.

We commenced the essay competition in 2020 to provide a platform for students across Nigeria to create and share original ideas that can transform our country positively by leveraging technology. The CDEC initiative aligns with one of our core values, “Excellence through Innovation and Diligence”, and our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to facilitate capacity development in the ICT Sector in Nigeria.

Over the past 5 editions of the project, we have received very positive responses through submissions that continue to prove the sheer ingenuity of the average young Nigerian, further strengthening our resolve to sustain and even expand the scope of CDEC.

The Annual Children’s Day Essay Competition is structured in two (2) categories: Junior (9-12 years) and Senior (13-16 years) and open to all schooling children across Nigeria within the age ranges. We kicked off the fifth edition of the competition on February 13, 2024, to highlight the importance of digital security to every child in the targeted age group, hence the topic: “Protecting the Nigerian Child from the Dangers of Online Technology”.

As a software development company driving transformation in the tech industry, four (4) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been selected in line with our CSR commitment/objective.

We aim to build a sustainable, authentic culture that resonates with our market, employees, talent pool, and most importantly the communities which operate, thereby ensuring we prosper from social responsibility.

The CDEC Aligns with the following SDGs

1. Gender Equality In ICT (SDG 5)

2. Decent Work & economic Growth (SDG 8)

3. Quality Education (SDG 4)

4. Reduce inequality within and among countries (SDG 10)
